FAQ

1. Where can I find instructions on installing the program?

Answer: Installation instruction will be available for downloading after you have registered on the site and requested for the license. For a free version of the program the license will be available right after registration, for a payable version - after confirmation of the payment.

2. I have a network license for the program and I want to install the program on several computers, and to install the database server on a separate computer in the network. But the installation instruction does not describe how to install the database server.

Answer: Instruction for installing the Firebird server (and distribution kit as well) can be downloaded on this site in the "Downloads" section or online on Firebird site. If you do not have the necessary skills for installing the server software, we strongly recommend you consult with your network administrator.

3. How is the transition from the free version to a more advanced payable version effected?

Answer: The difference between free and payable versions of the program is in the amount of functional characteristics, which are determined by configuration. In this case the client parts of the program are absolutely identical. To make a transition to a more functional version you will need:

1) to order a new license and pay the difference between the versions

2) to get a configuration file bound to your new license

3) download the distribution kit of the new version

You can then proceed as follows:

- Install the program again from the distribution in the new version and activate with the received key. In this case you a more functional configuration will be automatically set, but with a clean database

- Or, if you want to keep all data in your original database, you may not install the program again, but just activate the current program with the new key, and then update the configuration in the current database (using the newly received configuration file)

4. I have a single-user version of the program, and I want to transit to the network version. What do I need?

Answer: You must request for the new license. In this case, your license number will remain, but its parameters will change. You will need to pay the difference between the current and the new license. After confirming the payment and receipt of the new license, you can replace a license in the program (re-installing it is not necessary). 5. How to extend the duration of my license?

Answer: You must request for the extension of the license. In this case, your license number will remain, but its parameters will change. You will need to pay for the extension of your license. After confirming the payment and receipt of the new license, you can replace a license in the program (re-installing it is not necessary).

6. What is the level of support provided for the program?

Answer: The level of support for the program is described in the appropriate section. The developers constantly improve the program by releasing new versions. For registered users the new versions available for downloading free in your private room.

7. How to updade the program to a newer version?

Answer: If you are a registered user, you can get free program updade during duration of your license. To updade to the new version does not imply reinstalling it. Each Service Pack has an instruction. In most cases, updating is a simple replacement of some files. In case of a network version of software you can use the automatic update service - for detailed instructions, see the User’s Manual.
